Trainng for SOSM commences
Quoting media reports,the training programme for the State-level implementation of the Sampoorna Oorja Suraksha Mission will begin here on Friday.
State Planning Board member P.V. Unnikrishnan will lead the programme, which will be implemented in three phases, said Idukki district co-ordinator of the mission P.C. Thomas. He said that 50 persons would be trained at the five-day programme, in which resource persons of the mission will also attend. The aims of the mission include electrifying all the houses in the State and ensuring supply of electricity to the public sector units and small-scale industrial units.
In the district, 10 grama panchayats — Kanchiyar, Peerumade, Kumily, Vathikudy, Kamakshi, Santhanpara, Vannappuram, Udumpannur, Vellyamattom and Karunapuram — have been identified for implementing the mission and 303 grama panchayats have been identified in the State to implement the mission, which will be implemented with the help of the Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT) and the Energy Management Centre, Mr. Thomas said.
